PreschoolSpot is pleased to be hosting the second annual summer Book Study Blog Party. The title of our book this year is Teaching in the Digital Age by Brian Puerling.
What is the book about?
[from the publisher]
Teaching in the Digital Age will provide you with developmentally appropriate and effective strategies for using technology to facilitate children’s learning. This comprehensive framework will help you select and use a variety of technology and interactive media tools in your classroom—including digital cameras, audio recorders, webcams, publication and presentation tools, and multi-touch mobile devices.
How does it work?
Beginning June 6 one chapter from the book will be discussed each week on a different blog. We will make an announcement here on PreschoolSpot when each chapter discussion is published to make it easy for you to follow along. If you are going on vacation don’t worry, simply subscribe to the blogs and the discussions will be in your inbox waiting for you when you return.

Anyway to make this so we can get a certificate for contact hours? This would be perfect for the hours that I need for the technology portion of my teaching license!
Hi Cindy,
That sounds like a great idea but because each state has their own requirements for professional development hours we would have to fill out the paperwork and submit it to each individual state in the US
If anybody reading this has a better idea we’re open to hearing it
How do we subscribe to the book study?
Hi Susan,
When you are at preschoolspot.com look up towards the top of the page and click where it says “subscribe by e-mail” then follow the directions to complete your subscription. Hope that helps
Can you get this book for a Nook or Kindle?
You can ask the publisher if and when it will be available in ebook format, http://www.redleaf.org The book itself was just released this week and ebooks usually follow several weeks after initial publication.
Isn’t that ironic??? Teaching in the Digital Age isn’t available in a digital format?? I got a little chuckle out of that! : )
I’ve ordered my hard copy and can’t wait to start– love all of your websites!
Kristen
Teaching in the Digital Age will be available as an enhanced ebook in August.
this is a great idea! Thanks for inviting me!
Hi,
I can’t seem to find the discount code for the book. Where do you look for that?
Thanks for joining us! The discount code is listed at the bottom of the post, it is STUDY.
Where did you purchase the book that you could use the discount code STUDY? When I am searching for this book it says it is not released until July 10th?
Hi Gina, the book can be purchased at Redleaf Press using the 35% discount code found in the original post here: http://preschoolspot.com/teaching-in-the-digital-age-book-study/ It will not be available on Amazon for a few more weeks.
I seem to be getting a 403 error when I try to view the Pre-K Pages website. Is her site down? Thanks.
Hi Dorene,
I’m sorry you were not able to access pre-k pages. The site is working, please try again and perhaps try refreshing your browser too. Thanks for your patience and have a great day!
Thanks. I was finally able to get to the web site. Am waiting for my book to arrive now.
It will not let me subscribe to the Preschoolspot site! Also when I hit on blog and the book
study – I see only the video with the author – is that all there is today??
Many thanks!! Grace
